Since 2016, Breizh Amerika has helped build one of the most active cultural bridges between Brittany and Louisiana, turning shared language, music, food, heritage, entrepreneurship, and tourism into measurable community impact. In Lafayette and Acadiana alone, Breizh Amerika has supported or facilitated at least 20 documented Brittany–Louisiana initiatives, including live music exchanges, Fête de la Bretagne celebrations, documentary storytelling, official Brittany Region delegations, food-and-beverage collaborations, tourism promotion, business forums, technology exchange, and reciprocal festival appearances in both Louisiana and Brittany. “More than +50 musicians and cultural artists have participated in Breizh Amerika-supported Brittany–Louisiana exchanges.” Breizh Amerika in Lafayette, Louisiana, 2016–2026 2016 — Breizh on the Road in Louisiana Breizh Amerika brought the “Breizh on the Road… Again” tour to Louisiana, including New Orleans, Lafayette, Scott, and Arnaudville, using music and cultural programming to build new relationships around Breton culture and language. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2016 — Louisiana flood relief Breizh Amerika helped raise funds for Louisiana flood victims, showing that the Brittany–Louisiana relationship also included solidarity and support beyond cultural programming. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2017 — Fête de la Bretagne in Louisiana / Brittany-Cajun friendship In 2017, Breizh Amerika returned to Louisiana for Fête de la Bretagne, highlighting a growing Britto-Cajun friendship and positioning the relationship as one that could lead to sustained cultural and economic exchange. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2018 — Copains Comme Cajuns documentary Breizh Amerika produced and presented Copains Comme Cajuns, a 52-minute documentary in Breton, French, and English about the links between Brittany and Louisiana. The film followed a Breton delegation through Louisiana and explored the cultural, linguistic, musical, and regional ties between Brittany and Acadiana. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2018 — Bernard Hinault at Cycle Zydeco Breizh Amerika helped connect Brittany and Louisiana through Cycle Zydeco, with five-time Tour de France champion Bernard Hinault participating in the Louisiana cycling event. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2019 — Klaxoon Teamwork Tour / innovation exchange in Lafayette Breizh Amerika also helped connect Lafayette with Brittany’s tech and entrepreneurship ecosystem through Klaxoon, a Rennes-based company and Breizh Amerika Startup Contest alum. Klaxoon’s U.S. Teamwork Tour was an 11-week, 16-city tour that included Lafayette, bringing a Brittany-born innovation story to Louisiana. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2019 — Bagad Plougastell at Festival International de Louisiane Breizh Amerika helped bring Bagad Plougastell to Festival International de Louisiane in Lafayette. The delegation included musicians from Plougastel, who traveled to Louisiana for a week of concerts, parades, and cultural exchange. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2021 — Virtual Fête de la Bretagne with Cedric Watson During the pandemic period, Breizh Amerika kept the Louisiana relationship active through a Virtual Fête de la Bretagne with Cedric Watson, listed in the organization’s Louisiana timeline as a May 2021 milestone. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2022 — Brittany Region delegation with Vice-President In October 2022, Breizh Amerika was part of renewed Brittany–Louisiana programming connected to the Regional Council of Brittany. The week included screenings of Copains Comme Cajuns, Breton music, and Louisiana-based Breizh Amerika member gatherings. This is the context for the Brittany Region delegation involving Christian Troadec, Vice President of the Brittany Region for Breton languages, Bretons of the world, and diaspora relations. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2023 — Fête de la Bretagne dinner at Prejean’s in Lafayette Breizh Amerika organized a Fête de la Bretagne dinner at Prejean’s Restaurant in Lafayette on May 20, 2023, bringing together Breizh Amerika members, Bretons, and friends of Brittany for Breton cuisine, live music, and homage to St. Yves, the patron saint of Brittany. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2023 — Celtic Halloween / Samhain at Hideaway on Lee Breizh Amerika partnered with Celtic Bayou Festival for a Celtic Halloween / Samhain celebration at Hideaway on Lee in Lafayette on October 21, 2023, connecting Breton and broader Celtic traditions with Louisiana audiences. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2024 — Celtic Bayou Festival partnership: Celtic Bayou Festival’s 2024 return to downtown Lafayette included a partnership with Breizh Amerika, with programming tied to music, food, dance, history and language. (The Current) 2024 — Breizh Amerika Collective concert + Breizh Amerika IPA launch at Jim Deggy’s Breizh Amerika organized a Breizh Amerika Collective concert and Breizh Amerika IPA launch at Jim Deggy’s Brewpub and Gulf Fest in Lafayette on October 2024, in partnership with Celtic Bayou Festival, Région Bretagne, Brasserie Lancelot, Tavarn ar Roue Morvan, Sévénéant Musique, and Jim Deggy’s. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2025 — Fête de la Bretagne / St. Yves Day at Naq’s N’ Duson Breizh Amerika celebrated Fête de la Bretagne / St. Yves Day on May 17, 2025, at Naq’s N’ Duson in Duson, near Lafayette, with live music, food, and drinks honoring the friendship between Louisiana and Brittany. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2025 — Lafayette / Louisiana represented at Festival Interceltique de Lorient Breizh Amerika helped bring Louisiana culture to Brittany during its 10th anniversary programming at the Festival Interceltique de Lorient, including performances by Kevin Naquin & The Ossun Playboys and other Breizh Amerika Collective programming. This created a major reciprocal exchange: after years of bringing Brittany to Lafayette, Breizh Amerika helped bring Lafayette and Louisiana to Brittany. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2025 — Louisiana tourism and culture at the Interceltic Business Forum At the 2025 Interceltic Business Forum in Lorient, Lafayette and Louisiana were featured in a session titled “The Business of Tourism in Louisiana.” (Ticket Tailor) 2025 — Festival Acadiens et Créoles / 10th anniversary celebrations in Lafayette As part of Breizh Amerika’s 10th anniversary celebrations, the organization returned to Lafayette for Festival Acadiens et Créoles, including a Brittany stand and a musical collaboration featuring Breton artists Tanguy Soubigou and Simon Créachcadec with Louisiana artists Louis Michot, Jourdan Thibodeaux, Trey Boudreaux, and Kevin Naquin. (BREIZH AMERIKA) 2025 — La Jument de Michao collaboration with Lost Bayou Ramblers During the Festival Acadiens et Créoles celebrations, Breton artists Simon Soubigou and Tanguy Créachcadec joined the Lost Bayou Ramblers on stage in Lafayette for a Brittany–Louisiana collaboration around the song La Jument de Michao, highlighting shared musical memory and living traditions across the Atlantic.
