La semaine dernière, des dons recueillis en Louisiane par les associations Breizh Amerika et Souffles D'Espoir ont été officiellement versés au centre de recherche anti-cancer de Rennes, le Centre Eugène Marquis. Au printemps dernier, Breizh Amerika s'est associé à la « Cycle Zydeco » pour participer à une cyclo caritative au cours de leur événement annuel à travers la Louisiane. Cycle Zydeco, une cyclo festive de 4 jours au cœur du pays cajun en Louisiane, marie à la perfection défi sportif et aventure touristique. Une délégation bretonne de 10 personnes, dont le champion du Tour de France, Bernard Hinault, a pris part à la course dans l'espoir de collecter des fonds pour la recherche contre le cancer. L’appui immense de la population locale en Louisiane a été réconfortant et la générosité des louisianais pour aider le centre de recherche de Rennes a été extraordinaire. Par le biais de dîners caritatifs, de ventes aux enchères d’oeuvres d’art de Bryan Theriot, de ventes de livres et de casquettes dédicacées et de l’aide de la Cycle Zydeco, un montant total de 8 915 $ a été recueilli au cours de la tournée caritative de 4 jours. Ce qui était certainement une surprise pour le Centre Eugène Marquis, la semaine dernière, c’est que des membres des associations Breizh Amerika et Souffles d'Espoir leur ont remis ce chèque inattendu et de plus, venu d’Outre-Atlantique ! Breizh Amerika aimerait remercier tous les habitants de la Louisiane pour leur générosité et un merci tout spécial à Scott et à toute la famille Cycle Zydeco! Trugarez!
